We are excited to announce a new addition to our staff!

Our club is proud to welcome Steve Rerick as our new Director of Goalkeeping.

Coach Rerick is currently the assistant men's soccer coach at Slippery Rock University where he is entering his second season. Prior to becoming a coach, he enjoyed a successful playing career at The Rock, where he started 36 out of 39 games over four years, won two PSAC Championships and was recognized as a Scholar Athlete.

His coaching and playing experience have allowed him to lay a strong foundation for his philosophy.

"I like to take a passionate approach to goalkeeping that creates a high intensity environment," Rerick says. "In order to foster the development of the goalkeepers in five key elements: Technical, tactical, psychological, physical, and social."

Coach Rerick joins an already successful and innovative staff at our club. In addition to leading position-specific training sessions, he will be involved in team training as well.

"By creating this environment," he adds, "it allows us to focus on fine-tuning our technique and decision making process through game like situations. Having a dedicated coach will allow for goalkeeper-specific training as well as in-session coaching to aid in the overall development of the five key elements of a goalkeeper."

Goalkeeper is a position that is often overlooked at youth clubs.

"The goalkeeper position is a unique position that requires attention to detail and training in a special way," Coach Rerick notes, demonstrating his commitment to the position. "Incorporating a Director of Goalkeeping at the club level provides a lot of stability and the opportunity to work with the goalkeepers in a more involved capacity."

Developing goalkeepers that are not only good shot-stoppers but who are also effective distributors and ball-players is essential to achieving success in our club's style of play.

"I chose Arsenal FC of Pittsburgh because of the great reputation of the club, the importance they have placed on the goalkeeper position, and the opportunity they have given me to achieve personal and professional growth within my career."

Coach Rerick will begin working with our goalkeepers in fall of the 2020-2021 season.

Please join us in welcoming this exciting new addition to our club!
